Political Science is the study of the state, the
government and power whether national or
international politics. Our major provides the knowledge, skill and experiences to
guide students from
classroom to career.
Our major intention is the provide knowledge to students the discover how politics
works? what
effect it has? and what you need to know to participate effectively in it. Our major
has something for
every interest form public law to political theory to security and
statecraft.
The importance of Political Science education is empower the students to evaluate
public
policies, propose solutions to societal challenges and understand the impact of
policies on individuals
and communities. This is crucial for influencing policy decisions and addressing
societal issues.
The goals of Department of Political Science is to develop skill, such as critical
thinking,
analytical reasoning and written and oral communication, necessary to engage
effectively in the study
and practice of political in order to become fully realized thinkers, professionals
and community
members.
Department of Political Science is welcome to the studies comparative politics and
governments. Political Scientists study the privileges and responsibilities of
citizenship, the uses ad
abuses of power, relation between nations and many other important topics. Political
Science is a broad
area of study that provides excellent preparation for a verity of career paths in
business, government
and the nonprofit sector.

Student Profile: Socio-economic status
The department is liberal and has kept the door open to all students who are interested to study
Political Science. the college is in heart of the town, which is nurturing the students who come fro rurla
areas. Most of the students who come from rural areas are of economically and socially heterogeneous
and most of them are below poverty line. The department deals with bilingual method. Generally the
students opt for the vernacular medium.

Course or Programmes
At present the College is affiliated to Karnataka State Akkamahadevei Women's University
Vijayapura the syllabus prescribed by the University is inevitably followed. Still, the department has
made attempts to inculcate new themes for the benefit of the students along with the completion of
syllabus. The department caters to the needs of students who are interested in the fields like seminars,
group discussions, assianment, project works and etc,.
