About :

Our college is affiliated to Besant education fellowship which is the educational Wing of the Theosophical Society. I take pride for being associated with the Theosophical Society, whose guiding principle is “ Satyanasti parodarmacha” Meaning There is no religion higher than Truth.”

The Economics department was established during the year 1984 with the inception of the college.Dr.Sangeeta Gaonkar appointed on 15-07-1988. Presently department consists of One permanent Associate professors and two of the Guest faculty members.

Objectives of the Department :

To impart syllabi based Knowledge in Economics to the students in order to face University Examinations.
Students are made to get practical knowledge in the contemporary economy.
To support and guide student for further studies in Economics.

Contemporary issues are discussed in the class.
Periodical tests & assignments are given.
In house paper presentation.
Guest lectures are organized.
Students are participating in national seminars.
Competitions are conducted.
Since 1994-95 Prof. Sangeeta Goankar has installed cash prizes for highest scorer in economics both in B.A./B.Com.

The department has embarked on several steps to promote students support service.

Books facilities for students to face examination successfully.
Organizing guest lectures.
Prof .Sangeeta Gaonkar instituted the cash prizes for B.A/B.Com & separate cash prize for SC/ST.
Organizes the Essay competition on Gandhian Thought.
Provides practical knowledge by visiting banks.
Encouraging the students for participating & presenting papers in seminar/conference.
Encouraging the students for project work.
Book facilities are provided.
Installed Endowment cash prizes for SC/ST (2010-11).

Department of Economics has taken up major responsibilities to the quality enrichment & development of the college. The department head was in charge of NAAC/IQAC/Other faculty of the dep. Id working as a coordinator for SC/ST/OBC/Minority community cell & student’s grievance redressal sell.

Served as an trained NSS officer for three consecutive years.
Undergone two training courses on AIDS awareness. And college has been declared as AIDS Awareness College. One of the NSS volunteer has participated in the pre- republic parade camp at Vishakapattanam.
Reconstruction of the stage of historical origin during the term of NSS officer which is used for religious functions.
Performed squad duty of examination of Gulbarga University.

Special Achievements of HOD Prof. Sangeeta Gaonkar :

Served as a trained NSS officer from 2001-02 to 2003-04
Organized the Gulbarga University level peer Educators & Community leaders training programmers for 3 days
No of programmers with regards to AIDS awareness have been organized consequently our college has been declared AIDS AWARE college
Blood donation & blood grouping camp have also been organized. One of the NSS volunteer has participated in the NSS pre – republic parade camp at Kerala
