The Theosophists at Hosapete came together with a noble intention started women's college in 1984-85. The College inaugurated by Smt. Sarojamma G. Shankar Gouda. This college has pledged to transform the vision of Dr. Anni Besant Second International President of Theosophical Society. Education in real sense should inculcate values of gender equality and remove discriminatory attitude & practice.

Our college is fulfilling educational needs of rural girls as 50% of our student me by surrounding rural places of Hosapete. The college is known for its academic excellence and overall personality development of students as it has to its credit rank holders, University blues, best NSS volunteer’s awards. The college came under grant in aid code in April 1991 & college is included in 2(f) 12 (b) clause of UGC College Moto is "Nahi Gnanena Sadrusham Pavithramihe Vidyate".

The college is situated at heart of Hosapete 1 KM from Bus stand and 3 KM from Railway station and provides easy access to both rural and urban students.

AFFILIATION

This college was affiliated to Gulbarga University in the beginning, Permanent affiliation was granted in the year 1997-98, later affiliation has been shifted to Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University, Vijayapura from the academic year 2004-2005, Semester system has been introduced from 2007-08 for B.A. & B.Com, Classes.

The college name was THEOSOPHICAL WOMEN'S FIRST GRADE COLLEGE. From the year 2001-02 onwards the college was renamed as SMT. UGAMADEVI BHAWARLAL NAHAR THEOSOPHICAL WOMEN'S COLLEGE .

UGC GRANTS

This College received grants under 9th, 10th and 11th Five year plans. From the same grants, books and magazines for the library, building equipments and computer for the college has been procured, besides conducting extension activities.


NAAC

Our college is re-accredited 'B' grade with CGPA 2.69 by the NAAC peer team during the year 2011-12 (September 15,2012). in II cycle.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION OF THE COLLEGE:
  • College timing: 8.30 A.M. to 2.30 P.M and Office working hours for weekdays: 10:30 A.M to 5:30 P.M and Saturday: 10:30 A.M to 1:30 P.M.
  • Medium of instruction: Both Kannada and English.
  • The admitted student should have a minimum of 75% of attendance in each subject.
  • Students are informed to actively participate in games, sports, National Service Scheme, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities being conducted in the College from time to time.
  • The students should wear the identity card in college campus. In case the identity case is lost, a duplicate card will be issued on payment of fee of Rs. 25/-students are instructed to keep the identity card and the bus pass carefully.
  • All admissions will be provisional and would be subject to official approval from the concerned authorities.
  • The college has spacious class rooms, good academic environment and other facilities to facilitate the teaching and learning process.
  • Mobiles should not be used in the college premises.
