Title – ENDOWMENT AND CASH AWARDS TO STUDENTS: To boost up academic excellence among students.
Objectives of the practice:

The prime objective of the practice is to recognize the students for their academic performance and to create an atmosphere of healthy competition among students. As per the scheme, the students who have secure highest marks in the B.A/B.Com program and in specific course will be awarded with a endowment and cash prize. Such appreciation leads to the realization of importance of hard work not only among the awardees but also among other students..

The Context:

This practice is an effort to recognize and reward students hard work and achievements. The academic interest of the students is increased with incentives by the college as encouragement. The potential of the students is identified and gets rewarded. The success of the students is the success of the college and teachers. This practice is designed in the scenario of academic competition among students. Successful students are the best ambassador of the college. .

The Practice:

TMerit incentives will be awarded in the form of cash with merit certificate to the students based on the marks obtained in the university examinations. The merit awards are instituted by college management members, working staff members, retiring staff, alumni and parent in their own names and in the names of their parents. The lumpsum endowment amount donated by the donors is held as fixed deposit in the name of the principal of the college. The interest accrued upon the deposit is used for giving the awards in the form of cash. Students achieving highest marks from among their peers in the university examination are considered eligible for the awards. These endowment and cash awards are presented to the eligible students on the occasion of ‘Annual Day’ function. The college gives away these awards as incentives and encouragement to the best performers. A cash prize is also instituted by a parent for best N.S.S. volunteer.

The endowment and cash prize are publicized in student prospectus. Students feel encouraged to compete with other students to excel in their studies. This practice is also motivating slow learner and moderate learner to work hard and get the merit award. Many students secured 100% marks in subjects like Financial Accountancy, Cost Accounting, Statistics, Income Tax etc

Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

Endowment prize money to be increased. More subject toppers to be awarded, resources are to be collected from donors. This will lead the students to secure highest marks in all subjects.

Best Practice-2

Title – Arrangement of grains and water for birds (Environmental protection)
Objective of the practice:

To make the campus environmental friendly and make the students environmental conscious.

Context:

At present, if we talk about environment, birds are leaving our city areas due to non-availability of water. Because of which their number is continuously decreasing. The reason behind this is the rapidly increasing pollution and lack of greenery. In such a situation, to spread awareness among people for environmental protection, we have to start with ourselves first. For this purpose arrangements made for the feeding the birds in the college campus.
Along with this, the students are also taughthow to make food and water arrangement for birds near their homes. So that students can make other people also aware about this action. This is a small initiative taken by SUBN Theosophical Women’s College, Hosapete to maintain environmental balance.

Practice:

Arrangement of grains and water is were made for the birds in the college campus. Arranging he water for the birds is not only the work for humanity, but it is also necessary for the environment and natural balance. Considering the arrangement of grains and water in the college campus, awareness and sensitivity towards animal is also developed among the students.

Evidence of Success:

The number of visiting birds and squirrels started visiting the college because of which the environment of the college campus became pleasant and environment friendly.

Problems encountered and Resources required:

Because of nonavailability of shade on the terrace, we cannot make arrangement in terrace in summer and rainy season. We make arrangements for water and grains by hanging the bowls to the trees in the college campus.
