About :

Vijayanagara being new District known for mining and steel industries and tourism, many large scale industries play a very important role in promoting industrial atmosphere which in turn helps in growth of service industry. This particular area is known for historical place Hampi and T.B. Dam which benefits a lot of young students who graduate in various disciplines.

Commerce Education is that area of education which develops the required knowledge, skills and attitudes for the successful handling of trade, commerce and industry. The world of business has tremendous potential for offering career opportunities in various functional areas apart from offering self employment opportunities to empower women through business education. The Department of Commerce was started since the inception of the college (1984-85). The Department is known for its academic excellence and strives hard for all round personality development of the students as it has to its credit rank holders. Smt.Shirisha has secured First rank and bagged Gold Medal in B.Com final year by securing 95% from Akkamahadevi Women’s University. Vijayapur in the year 2015-16. Many students have brought laurels to the Department during last 5 years. Our students have bagged 1st, 2nd, 6th and 10th ranks in B.Com from Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University .Vijayapur.

Our students are allowed to participate in campus interviews organized by surrounding institutes, corporates like, Jindal, Kirloskar, BMM, Infosys, TCS, etc. Our students have been appointed in Kirloskar, Infosys, TCS, Atkins. Cisco. Essencia, Winstron etc. in Bangalore and service sectors, in and around Hosapete. The department also counsels them in the matter of further studies as MBA, M.Com, C.A. etc., Our Alumni are working as Professors, lawyers, Bank officials and in various positions in MNC’s & Government Offices. They also motivate our students by participating in college activities.

The department organizes guest lectures, HRD programmes, Skill Development programmes, Factory visits and Bank visits to give practical exposures to the students. Our students have also presented papers in the National Level and State Level Seminars and conferences.

Achivements :

Smt. Anjali Desai and Dr. Ansuya. Angadi acted as Member of Board of Studies of Commerce Department of Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University Vijayapur and participated in framing of syllabus as per NEP.
Smt. Anjali Desai and Dr. Ansuya. Angadi acted as Member and Chairman of BOE Commerce Department of Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University Vijayapur.
Prof. Dr. Ansuya Angadi Commerce dept written Books. i.“Advertising & Sales Management. ii. “Women Entrepreneurship”, iii.“Retail Management”, iv. “Chillare Vyapara Nirvahane” were published by Siddhalingeshwara Prakashan Gulbarga.
Commerce Department staff has attended International, National and State level seminars/Conferences and presented papers and they are published in Journals.

Kum. Fatima Anjum has secured Second rank by securing 91.28%, Kum. Sushmita. S. secured Sixth rank by securing 88.72% and Kum. Sushma Pattar has secured Tenth rank in B.Com final year by securing 88.02% from Akkamahadevi Women’s University. Vijayapur in the year 2019-2020.
Kum. A.Vidya has secured Tenth rank in B.Com final year by securing 90.30% from Akkamahadevi Women’s University. Vijayapur in the year 2020-21.
Kum. Pratibha has secured Tenth rank in B.Com final year by securing 91.28% from Akkamahadevi Women’s University. Vijayapur in the year 2021-22.
Our Results are consistently above 90%.
Our Alumni are working as Professors, lawyers Bank officers and in various positions in MNC’s.
Kum. Tejashwini & Kum. Sushma Pattar – presented paper on topic: “IMPACT OF GST ON INDIAN ECONOMY” in One Day National Conference on “Tax Reforms in India: issues and Challenges” On 5 th October, 2018, Organised by Karnataka College Dharwad.
Kum. Sreejani has won “First prize” and Rs.2,000/- in the State Level Student’s Seminar held on 8 th March 2020 on the occasion of International Women’s Day-2020 at Akkamahadevi Women’s Arts, Science and Commerce College Bagalkot.
On 12 th March 2019 Special Guest lecture on topic “Career Oppurtunities for Commerce Graduates” was organised by the Department and the resource person was Prof. M G Gachannavar, Associate Professor at K.R. Bellad College, Mudargi.
Kum. Tejashwini, Kum. Sushma, Kum. Meghana & Kum. Sidra – presented paper in national seminar in A S Patil College, Vijayapur on 30.03.2019.
Kum Yasmeen won second prize, 2000 cash with certificate and Kum T.Anusha won third prize in video making on “Women life and achievement” conducted by Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University Vijayapur on 8 th March 2021.
Kum. Anusha. T, Kum. Sneha on topic, “An Analytical Study on Role of Skill development for Women Empowerment” and Miss. Ananya. G. & Miss. L. Arunabai. B.Com IV Semester B.Com IV sem students presented paper on topic “Impact of skill india on rural youth – a perspective” at A.S patil college, Vijayapur organized two days national seminar on “Skill India opportunities and Challenges” on 29th and 30th April 2022.
On 29 th Feb 2020, Special Guest lecture was organised on Oppurtunities & Challenges of Today’s Women by a resource person Dr. Pragna Matthihalli, Asso Prof, Govt First Grade College, Dharwad
On 29 th July 2022 Special Guest lecture on topic “Work life Balance” was organised by the Department and the resource person was Dr. Gavisiddappa Gadag. Associate Professor of ASM College Bellary.
Kum. Yasmeen of B.Com 4th Semester won first place for Bellary district in the State wide Essay Competition conducted by Karnataka Skill Development Corporation on account of World Youth Skills Day 2022 Kaushalya Spoorthi and on 8 th September attended One day program with Vijaynagar District DC Shri Anirudh Shravan sir.
